Forehead Reduction Surgery

Forehead Reduction Surgery

(Also known as Hairline Lowering, Scalp Advancement & Hairline Correction)

Forehead reduction surgery (AKA scalp advancement, hairline correction or hairline lowering) is a procedure that addresses the distance between the eyebrows and the hairline.

How does a Forehead Reduction help with Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS)?

In men the hairline is often higher than in women and may recede further as they age. During Forehead Reduction Surgery, the male hairline is moved forward and may be shaped into a more feminine rounded shape.

Forehead reduction surgery is almost always included in Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS) as most male-to-female patients often wish to shorten forehead length and improve temporal hair loss (male-pattern balding).

Forehead Reduction offers a number of benefits such as:

  • Shortening the distance between the eyebrows and the hairline
  • Reducing temporal hair loss
  • Alleviating upper forehead wrinkling
  • Altering the hairline (for example, eliminating or creating a widows peak)

Patients can take advantage of one or all of the benefits of forehead reduction surgery depending on their aesthetic needs and desires.

How is Forehead Reduction surgery performed?

Hairline lowering surgery is performed under general anesthesia. An incision is made following the natural hairline. Our unique approach is to make the incision in such a way so that the underlying hairs will grow through the scar, thus making it nearly invisible.
