Rhinoplasty Nasal Surgery (Nose Job) San Francisco
What is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty, often known as nasal surgery or a “nose job”, is a type of plastic surgery that aesthetically enhances, reconstructs or corrects the shape of the nose.
Nasal surgery may involve reducing the nose, narrowing the nose, altering the internal portions and/or shaping and moving the nose cartilage.
Rhinoplasty is most often performed to improve the appearance of the nose either for natural reasons or congenital deformities. The procedure is also used to correct impaired breathing due to congenital nasal structural defects.
The artistry of nasal surgery or the “nose job”
Nasal surgery, more than any other type of plastic surgery is often the most difficult. This is because it require a plastic surgeon with a keen aesthetic eye as well as artistic ability to be able to visualize the final result prior to surgery.
The real skill of the nose job is to achieve what the patient wants – not what the surgeon wants. A common problem is that many plastic surgeons aim to build the same “nose” for every patient. However, a good surgeon will take the time to really truly listen and then try to give their patients what they want – if it’s within the realm of possibility, and works naturally and in harmony with the patient’s existing facial features.
What to expect from your initial consultation and surgery
Dr. Deschamps-Braly’s approach to nasal surgery is that of an artist and a surgeon. During your initial consultation he will listen to your concerns and then discuss possible outcomes, options and expectations.
He will then conduct a complete physical examination and photograph your nose, your profile and facial features from several angles, to help ensure accurate communication and clarity of expectations.
