Rhinoplasty (Nasal Surgery/Nose Job)
What is a Feminizing Rhinoplasty?
Men tend to have larger and wider noses than women. The tip of a woman’s nose may also point upwards when compared to men. A Feminizing Rhinoplasty (also known as nose surgery or a “nose job”) reduces the overall size of the nose and alter the shape to make it appear more feminine.
The Artistry of Feminizing Rhinoplasty
Feminizing Rhinoplasty is one of the most difficult plastic surgery procedures to undertake successfully. It requires a surgeon not only with excellence in surgical prowess, but also with artistry and the aesthetic eye to be able to visualize the final result in advance of the procedure.
How does a Rhinoplasty help with Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS)?
Rhinoplasty aesthetically feminizes the shape and form of the nose. The Rhinoplasty procedure may involve reducing the size of the nose, narrowing and/or altering the nose internally, an/or shaping and moving the nose cartilage.
What are the Benefits of Feminizing Rhinoplasty?
Along with feminizing the size and shape of the nose, the procedure can also improve the appearance of the nose due to traumatic accidents or deformities. Rhinoplasty may also be used to correct impaired breathing due to congenital nasal structural defects.
Feminizing rhinoplasties are often performed at the same time as forehead contouring. Because reducing the size or shape of the forehead will invariably alter the relative size of the nose the two are often most appropriately performed at the same time.
How is a Rhinoplasty procedure performed?
A Feminizing Rhinoplasty must be performed under general anesthesia, to allow for maximum flexibility in size reduction. An incision is made at the base of the nose, leaving little to no visible scarring.
